On Friday, November 1st, the National Bank offices came alive for the very first edition of the Jeux de l’entraide. Organized by the Emerging Philanthropists of Centraide du Grand Montréal—a group of 14 volunteers from diverse professional backgrounds—this unique event brought together teams from 11 companies and institutions in the region to tackle management challenges faced by community agencies on the ground.
A Bridge Between the Business World and the Community Sector
The Jeux de l’entraide aims to create a space where young professionals can put their skills to work for community agencies. Through this friendly competition, teams are invited to challenge themselves by developing concrete and applicable solutions to issues faced in the community sector. For Centraide du Grand Montréal, this initiative serves as an additional bridge between the business and community worlds, allowing ideas and resources to flow freely with the goal of making a positive and lasting impact.
Beyond the competitive aspect, this event also seeks to engage and raise awareness among the new generation of professionals about Centraide du Grand Montréal’s mission. By highlighting the organization’s essential work, the Jeux de l’entraide help participants learn more about the efforts made every day to fight poverty and social exclusion. By involving young leaders in such initiatives, Centraide ensures that its message of solidarity and social impact resonates with the leaders of tomorrow.
Three Categories of Challenges
For this first edition, the teams focused on three challenge categories, each addressing a critical issue in the community sector:
Concrete Solutions for Agencies
Each team’s proposed solutions were submitted in the form of a written report and presented in a pitch session before a jury. The ideas developed during the competition will now be offered as a toolkit to Centraide’s network of agencies.
Thanks to National Bank, the event’s main sponsor, which not only offered its premises for the day but also matched all donations collected, the Jeux de l’entraide raised an impressive $73,720 for Centraide du Grand Montréal’s annual campaign.
The event was also marked by moments of camaraderie and good cheer, including a rock-paper-scissors tournament that helped break the ice among participants. At the end of the presentations, three teams were crowned winners:
Communications Challenge: Bell
Human Resources Challenge: Énergir
Financial Resources Challenge: Deloitte
This first edition of the Jeux de l’entraide was a great success and a further step in the effort to build an inclusive society without poverty. A big thank you to all the participating teams, sponsors, and volunteers who helped make this day a success.
